Somebody told me that I'd always have to bow...

If that was true I would have fallen apart by now....

Lost Prophets Biography

In a few years, six welsh guys from the quiet streets of Pontypridd in South Wales have come along way. Having started as an experiment, sick of school, and thirsty for way to express themselves musically, Watkins and co, all living basically next door to each other and attending the same schools, found they shared pretty much identical musical taste, and it was then the idea of a band was created. However, it was Ian and Mike Lewis that first got it together, forming a post hardcore group by the name of Public Disturbance, at the age of 16. After making quite a significant impact on the UK underground, they soon became disillusioned with the scene they strived to affect so much, and gave it up, taking a break from music to concentrate on other projects (E.G Finished University).

In 1997, Lostprophets were finally born. Their sound had developed over many years travelling the welsh club circuit, much to front man Ian's distaste.

"I don't really like being a front man." He told VisibleNoise.com. "I like singing, making up melodies and shit, but I hate performing. It's a pain in the arse. You're the focal point and you've got to think up all these witty remarks. I like playing drums, coz you can just fuck everything else and just play."

The band had decided that Watkins' talents lied in his unique vocal style rather than his drumming ability, and it was then Mike Chiplin was introduced into the band. After years of writing and performing with a small profile, Metal Hammer music magazine got their hands on a demo, and gave it ten out of ten, which really helped a buzz surrounding the prophets that was building around the band. And also, with the extreme public backing provided by America's leading online metal magazine, The Pimp Rock Palace (www.theprp.com) hype around the band was at an immense level, which sparked off a bidding battle over in the states between some of the world's major labels.

Now the band, signed to Visible Noise and Sony, are beginning their descent on the metal and rock charts. After releasing their first album in November 2000, it was later re-released in October 2001, to coincide with the release of their debut single + fan favourite, Shinobi Vs Dragon Ninja - The video of which can be seen in the video's page.

Currently touring the UK, the band have just shot the new video for the single of "The Fake Sound Of Progress" for release towards the end of March. Next on the list of things to do for the guys is conquering the mighty US of A, as they tour for a solid two months from March.
